Der Sturm oder La Isla Bonita

On Isla Bonita, Ariel and Caliban look after their sun loungers – and the tourists reclining on them – with great care. Everyone knows: the guest is king! – including long-term guest Prospero, an elderly gentleman for whom Ariel is only too happy to re-enact characters from Shakespeare’s play *The Tempest* at any time, and Caliban, of course, who is equally delighted to play the part of a native savage. Whether it’s a longing for exotic summer romance, exclusive access to unspoilt nature or all-you-can-drink, the motto here is always: ‘With pleasure, madam!’

With this production, Calixto María Schmutter not only completes his studies in directing but, following several productions at German municipal and state theatres, also makes his debut at an Austrian regional theatre. Schmutter’s work combines a deeply dramatic and theatrical approach with elements of pop and kitsch, narration and visual imagery, music, sound, and a love for an artistic experience that is both accessible to a wide audience and multi-layered.
